Apostolic Revival began as a trickle of hope when a small work began in 1930 by Reverend Wesley Williams, brother of Sister Beatrice Prine, and Brother Rufus Cobb.
In Bond, what began under an oak tree was relocated in an old shotgun style house converted to a church. The Church was conveniently furnished with pews and a “potbelly” stove and an atmosphere of old fashioned Oneness Pentecostal worship!
The trickle of hope soon transformed into a strong stream of faithful saints, as God complimented their prayerful efforts with many souls praying through to the Holy Ghost and becoming “Children of the Light.” During those years, there were not many families in Bond and Wiggins that wasn’t touched by the Pentecostal movement’s efforts.
Two Sunday school classes were added to the original structure to accommodate the newly founded Sunday School, and they replaced the shutters with real windows. The Church secured land at a new lo- cation for $420.00 and completed a new building to accommodate the growing number. It served as home for the next thirty-two years, as revival continued!
Because of the Holy Ghost revival’s plentiful rains, the stream has progressed into a re- warding river! As with every living organism, growth is necessary to sustain life. And on August 18, 1996, the congregation moved to a present spacious location, hoping that the revival rains will inundate us! As we look forward in faith, we see the silhouette of a great sea of salvation for Wiggins!
