2018 Lifetime Achievement Award
Cecil Greenway was born on October 9, 1928, to Tolly and Ivy Casteel Greenway at Jerome Arkansas. He grew up and graduate from high school in South Arkansas. His parents received the Holy Ghost early in their lives. His father was a farmer and they lived during the Great Depression. Cecil wanted to be a farmer until he received his call to preach the gospel.
Cecil received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at age nineteen when his future father-in-law, John W. Rucks, came through preaching a revival. Shortly thereafter, he received his call to preach.
The Rucks had a daughter, Dorothy Rucks, who was an extraordinarily talented singer and musician. When Cecil was about 8 or 10 years old, he said, “One day, I will marry her.” He liked to tell the story that on their honeymoon he preached his first revival.
The Greenways had two daughters, Pam Hodge, married to David Hodge of Savannah, Georgia and Patty Childers married to Kenny Childers of Starkville, Mississippi. They had six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Brother Greenway started two prosperous churches and pastored a total of five. This included churches in Star City, Arkansas; Dexter, Missouri; West Memphis, Arkansas and West Helena, Arkansas. His last Pastorate was at Cedar Grove Pentecostal Church in Tupelo, Mississippi where he pastored for 30 years. He served as an evangelist, youth director, Presbyter and he was active with Harvestime as southeast regional director for many years.
In 2010, the year Sister Greenway died, they had celebrated 60 years together. Brother Greenway had been in the ministry 70 years when God took him to his eternal home on March 6, 2019.
