Ministers

When one considers the church after Pentecost, they think of the apostolic leaders that spearheaded the work that Jesus had commissioned the church to perform. Jesus came in the flesh to reconcile lost humanity! As He concluded His earthly ministry He gave the responsibility to the church to continue the work of reconciliation; the church being His body on the earth. When church leaders graduate to their heavenly reward, others place the responsibility upon their shoulders in order that each generation has the privilege of obtaining their place in the Kingdom. What really happened after Luke concluded the Book of Acts was that a period was placed to end the work of that generation. The church of the future continues to remove the period and merely add a comma to successfully continue not only the work, but the total record of the church.
The modern church is the aggregate of apostolic ministry. The church, as has been mentioned a number of times in this project, is the flip side of the apostolic coin… it is the same church, performing the same ministry, and endeavoring to complete the work before the shadows of the evening time are lengthened.
The Mississippi District can create a listing of men every bit as effective in their generation as the apostles were in the first. As the record reads in the Book of Acts, so is the record being written in modern times. The names are recorded in the chronicles of the Mississippi Historical Center, but more importantly, in the Books that will be opened when the job has been completed. The men and women listed in this project are not the sum of the total; many records have not surfaced, or because those involved did not consider recording their work a priority. The work of true ministry seems to have that in common. It is simply get the job done, and snatch as many souls from the flames as possible. All else is secondary.
